I’ve got a new drink for you guys. It’s not complicated. It’s not new. But it is delicious.
Back when I was a barista, so very long ago, a customer ordered a Starbucks Doubleshot. I had no idea what it was, and not just because I had been on the job only two weeks. It was this secret drink that apparently only really cool people knew about. My co-worker showed me how to make it, I served it, and that was that. I went back into my overly-sugared white mocha coma and never thought about it again. Until today, when I noticed it sitting oh so subtly at the bottom of the real menu.
I thought back to that time that I made it, and couldn’t for the life of me remember exactly what it was or what was in it. But I was feeling particularly indecisive this morning, so I just ordered it blindly. What’s the worst that could happen? Then while I was waiting, I looked it up on my Starbucks app. It’s shots of espresso (with classic or other syrup, if you’re into that) shaken over ice and topped with 2% milk. Mmmmm. I got mine with 1 pump of classic syrup (which is basically just sugar water, in case you were ever wondering), and it’s really hitting the spot. So go forth and get one while the weather is still “springlike” and before we get a random snowstorm and I go back into my hot coffee bunker.
